Stories heal, and Bucky Sinister, sober since February 19th, 2002, and a veteran of the punk rock and spoken word scene, brings the stories from the trenches about how to get sober, stay sober, and live sober. Living sober is against instinct. We've learned to live drunk, high, and wasted. The way you act in a crack house is not the way you act at the DMV... What we've learned in order to protect ourselves, our possessions, and our stash is not helpful to the rest of our lives; actually, acting these ways will ruin our lives. Still Standing is about the stories that heal you, and the hard times that don't kill you. Sinister goes beyond the 12-steps with stories from the misfits, freaks, and weirdos that have come to recovery from a variety of backgrounds -- tattoo artists, bartenders, musicians -- to help answer the What Now? question of living sober. Topics include: 10 Things Every New Recovering Addict Should Have; Prayer and the Atheist; Job Interviews; and Ways Addicts Can Be of Service to Normies.

“Bucky Sinister is a desperately needed tonic in this quasi-enlightened age. Sardonic, heartfelt, and helpful, Bucky's writing is a lifeline for the non-spiritual.” - Patton Oswalt, comedian and author of Zombie Apaceship Wasteland

“Bucky Sinister has done it again: a handbook for recovery without all the gobbledygook. A personal repair manual for your psychic glovebox.” - Dana Gould, comedian

“An indispensable guide for sober misfits and those who love them.” - Beth Lisick, author of Helping Me Help Myself

“Great insight into not simply getting clean and sober, but "living" clean and sober. Well written, easy to read, gritty and brutally honest, Still Standing is the book to read for anyone who desires long term sobriety or those who care for someone in recovery. Bucky Sinister hit a homerun with this one.” - Barb Rogers

“Sober since February 19, 2002, Sinister is following up his first recovery book, Get Up, with this what-omes-after-getting-sober offering. As tough as it is for addicts to get sober, living sober is even tougher. Sinister talks honestly about things like relapsing, white-knuckling it, and the anti-steps. The tone of the book is lively, real, and even a bit raw. At the heart of it are the stories of addicts staying sober and the things that get them through one day at a time. Sinister says that he writes self-help books for people who don't read self-help books. It's his I'm-just-telling-it-like-it-is style that makes the book a page turner. This is not only a valuable resource for recovering addicts, but also a good tool for those who are trying to understand them.” - Anna Jedrziewski, New Age Retailer
